Tailwind Nutrition is sponsoring several Bike MS events this season and will support para athlete Liz Gasson, who is participating in the events and is training for the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
Bike MS fuels the National Multiple Sclerosis society’s mission to cure MS and helps people affected by MS to live their best lives.
Liz will be accompanied by her teammate and coach Steve Bale (pictured left, alongside Liz) and her service dog, Paddy – two of the biggest champions of Liz’s journey since her MS diagnosis in 2005. Steve’s coaching has taken her from being wheelchair bound to the route to the Paralympics.
“We are proud to support the Bike MS community and we are especially rallying for our Tailwind athlete and Paralympic hopeful, Liz,” said Jenny Vierling, co-founder of Tailwind. “Liz demonstrates all of the qualities that Tailwind stands for in an athlete and she is an all-around amazing human being. Her perseverance and positive outlook in the face of adversity is admirable. We are happy that our products are helping to fuel her needs as an athlete and hope that it inspires others to chase big dreams.”
Nutrition for training, MS treatments
Liz fuels with Tailwind’s complete nutrition support system, consisting of Endurance Fuel (available at Amazon with more than 4,200 reviews), Recovery Mix and Rapid Hydration. She explains that Tailwind has been extremely important not just for cycling, which she loves for its ability to strengthen her physical and mental health, but Tailwind also comes to the rescue when she is undergoing treatment for MS and cannot process food, or if she is nauseous. Tailwind provides all of the nutrients, hydration and sustenance she needs.
“The way that Tailwind’s Endurance Fuel is created means I can ingest the needed fuel during a race and it doesn’t affect my digestion negatively. It’s perfect! The fact that Tailwind believes in me and supports me, has given me a lot of emotional and mental support! It means a lot to me and I want to do well for Tailwind as well,” exclaimed Gasson.
All in the family
This year will be Liz’s first time participating in the Bike MS events and she looks forward to the camaraderie and support system she will be surrounded with at each new location. When it comes to Bike MS, every pedal stroke and every dollar raised is a step closer to a cure.
“I’m not sure if I can put how much this event means to me into words. I have lost a lot in my life from having MS, but I can honestly say I have positively gained more! My coach, the cycling community, my MS family, and the Tailwind family have all become an extremely important extension of my family to me. They have saved my life in more ways than one,” said Gasson. “I’m extremely grateful and proud to be on this journey with them.”
